Letter from FrontLine Service CEO, Susan Neth
FrontLine Service CEO, Susan Neth
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As I prepare to retire from FrontLine later this year, I find myself reflecting on the extraordinary lessons this journey has taught me—lessons about resilience, compassion, and the profound power of human connection.
Over the past 37 years, I have had the privilege of witnessing the incredible strength of the human spirit, time and time again. Our FrontLiners—those working directly with individuals in crisis and those supporting quietly behind the scenes—have consistently inspired and humbled me. Their everyday acts of kindness and tireless efforts build resilience not just in those we serve, but throughout our entire agency.
At the core of resilience is connection. And kindness makes that connection possible. Every day, our team shows how small gestures—a warm smile, a gentle word, a listening ear—can spark transformation, especially for those who are struggling or are facing the darkest moments of their lives. We do not step away; we step closer. I have seen lives change simply because someone cared, because someone reached out to create a connection.
This spirit of compassion fuels FrontLine’s mission. Our teams step forward with empathy—whether reaching out persistently to people living with untreated mental illness or responding immediately to children facing devastating loss. By rebuilding trust and affirming dignity, they help individuals rediscover their own strength. Thanks to their steadfast commitment, FrontLine continues to serve as a lifeline, ensuring that hope remains within reach for those who feel forgotten.
Leading this remarkable organization has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I carry with me the lessons I’ve learned from so many incredible people I have served alongside over the years—from our staff, our clients, and our partners—lessons that will continue to shape how I live: with kindness, with gratitude, and with an unwavering belief in the good within us all
To everyone who has walked alongside me on this path, thank you. Your presence, your support, and your encouragement have meant the world to me, both personally and professionally.
As I begin this next chapter of my life, I challenge you to step forward to keep this work alive. Be the connection someone longs for. Be the smile that lifts a spirit. Be the kindness that changes a life.
Be a FrontLiner.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Susan
