FrontLiner Profiles: Guy Vincent

“Aligning with FrontLine Service was a natural and compelling choice due to our shared commitment to addressing societal challenges…Through collaboration, I’m privileged to play a role in advancing the collective mission of healing and empowerment.”

Guy Vincent is a contemporary artist and art instructor who has been involved with FrontLine in art and community projects since 2018.

When did you first hear about FrontLine Service?

I became aware of FrontLine Service nine years ago, while leading an art initiative for an organization that provided services for some of the same clients.

In what ways have you been involved with FrontLine Service?

I've been involved in an array of innovative art initiatives through FrontLine. These endeavors span a diverse spectrum, from collaborating with Public Safety Departments to fostering creativity within Permanent Supportive Housing communities. I've collaborated with projects centered around addressing trauma and promoting resiliency, alongside programs designed for incarcerated men and women. Each initiative intertwines a unique narrative, contributing to a broader tapestry of social impact and creative expression.

What do people often misunderstand about the work you do with FrontLine?

Perhaps in some cases, individuals associate FrontLine art sessions with the clinical definition of art therapy. While both disciplines use art for healing, my sessions focus on fostering group creativity in a supportive environment. My primary goal is to empower individuals through creative expression, whether through teaching techniques or providing a space for self-expression. So while it's understandable to associate my work with art therapy, it's important to recognize its unique approach in promoting holistic well-being.

What is a FrontLine memory that sticks with you?

In nearly every art session, I witness participants experiencing a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment. The realization that they've brought something uniquely theirs into existence fills them with a profound sense of ownership and authenticity. Ultimately, this transformative experience leaves them feeling inspired, invigorated, and enthusiastic to delve deeper into their artistic and creative abilities.

What is a hobby, interest, or routine you have that is not related to work?

Recently, I’ve turned my attention to writing, recording, and producing original music under the name Infinite Twelve. This project provides new creative avenues to explore and pushes the boundaries of my artistic capabilities.
