FrontLiner Profiles: Treveya Franklin

“People tend to look down on others who do not look or act the way they expect. All of us have a heart, breathe the same air, and bleed the same blood. We should care for others, especially those who are in need of extra support, because everyone needs someone, and we cannot survive alone.”

— Treveya Franklin is the Operations Manager of North Point and has been working at FrontLine since 2014.

What is your role at FrontLine?

Operations Manager at North Point.  North Point provides emergency housing for adults and young adults. I oversee admissions and discharges, complete intake processes, assign rooms and case managers to residents, supervise residential and custodial staff, mediate conflicts and crises, ensure building safety, and order program supplies.

Why do you care about this work?

I got into this field because at a certain time in my life, I was unsure of what direction I needed to take to improve my life. I was in a very bad state of mind. My Higher Power strategically placed PEOPLE in my life that guided me, supported me, cared about me and at times scolded me, which assisted me in developing and discovering a better me. I wanted to be that for others in their journey of self-improvement.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Giving a person a little relief by providing a space to recharge and reset themselves and the opportunity to develop and set goals and the resources to achieve them.

What do you do to practice resiliency?

Pray, pray, and pray some more! Also pay attention to my body and take breaks when I need to. I usually will ask not to be on call and lay on my couch and binge watch a TV series.

What is a hobby, interest, or routine you have that is not related to work?

I love going out to restaurants with family. Also music of all types, whatever fits my mood at the time. I like reading, especially autobiographies. However, I have started many books but not completed them, LOL!

If you could make the whole community understand one thing about the work you do, what would it be?

People tend to look down on others who do not look or act the way they expect. All of us have a heart, breathe the same air and bleed the same blood. We should care for others, especially those who are in need of extra support, because everyone needs someone, and we cannot survive alone.

Is there anything else you want to share about yourself or the work you do?

I continue to work on improving myself and learning how to accept my errors while doing this work. I believe I am getting better with not beating myself up too much LOL! I care about people and surround myself with positive influencers, I don’t do well with negative energy around me.

What would you say to someone who is interested in working at FrontLine?

I love FrontLine Service because it has a smorgasbord of services to help those in need. If you are looking for a place that is flexible, and caring towards its clientele and staff, this is the place to be!
