Trainings: Resiliency & Trauma-Informed Care

“Trauma-Informed Care is a strengths-based framework that is grounded in an understanding of and a responsiveness to the impact of trauma, that emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors, and creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment”

- Hopper, Bassuk, & Olivet, 2010

FrontLine Service has responded to trauma survivors since launching the nation’s first Children Who Witness Violence program in 1999. In 2010, we committed to implementing SAMHSA’s Trauma-Informed Care framework to support our clients and staff, and we continue to utilize this framework today.

Working with vulnerable clients and trauma survivors can take a toll on helping professionals, especially in the post-pandemic climate. Staff support and resiliency is an important piece of Trauma-Informed Care. We offer a variety of trainings to share our knowledge of and experience with addressing trauma-exposure stress, cultivating resiliency, and implementing Trauma-Informed Care. Our goal is to strengthen our partners’ workforces and enhance the quality of service delivery to the communities we serve.

Our Trainers

Kim Kiley

Kim Kiley researches and curates materials, and facilitates trainings. Kim has a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychology from Goddard College, and she has been a member of the Trauma Services team at FrontLine Service since 2008. After working in the Trauma Department for a few years, Kim became interested in resiliency and work-related stress because she noticed changes in herself due to trauma exposure.

In her current role as Research and Evaluation Specialist, she provides support to the trauma programs through evaluation and research and designing and facilitating trainings and groups that focus on trauma exposure stress, resiliency, and Trauma-Informed Care. Kim is a certified yoga teacher and has published research on the effects of guided imagery on compassion fatigue and work-related stress. She shares her knowledge of yoga, guided imagery, and mindfulness with resiliency group and training participants.

Kim uses these strategies daily to maintain her own resiliency. She utilizes her research skills to ensure that training materials are current, creating new training and group content with innovative information and data. She specializes in trainings groups for a variety of helping professionals, including first responders, social workers, and healthcare workers. She appreciates that people relieve stress in different ways and believes in a personal approach to self-care. This involves tailoring self-care strategies to meet individual participants’ needs and lifestyles.
